With a name that translates into “new wave,” the playful Parisian band Nouvelle Vague finesses a niche: they interpret New Wave songs in the style of Brazilian pop. A European release for their new album NV3 is June 15, with a U.S. date and label to be decided. Ian McCulloch of Echo & the Bunnyman, Terry Hall of Fun Boy Three, and the soloist Barry Adamson all contribute backing vocals to their own songs. We like the weirdness of the Dead Kennedys’ “Too Drunk To Fuck” pressed against the band's genteel lounge style.
