Norweigen Survey: Music Pirates Buy Ten Times More Music

Music pirates buy ten times more music than those who do not download free music, according to an international survey by the BI Norwegian School of Management. Published last Friday (the day of the Pirate Bay ruling), the survey includes 1,900 participants, all older than 15. Those who admitted to downloading free mp3s make up the largest consumer market for buying online music. This contradicts the popular idea that piracy is causing music sales to recede. Perhaps the industry will soon begin to focus on a different bracket: those who do not buy or steal music. [Source: Gizmodo, Aftenposten]
