Noel Gallagher is holding a press conference in London today to announce his first solo venture since the Oasis split in 2009. The project will be released under the name Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, with a self-titled album set for release on Oct. 17. The recorded was reportedly recorded in London and Los Angeles.
It’s not clear yet how the 10-track album will sound, but it appears the older Gallagher sibling is branching out a little further than his brother Liam has with Beady Eye. Noel will release an accompanying collaborative LP at some point in 2012, which stems from sessions he undertook with Amorphous Androgynous. So if High Flying Birds turns out to be more Beatles pastiche, at least we know something vaguely different may be in the offing at some point in the future.
