Noel Gallagher slams Jack White's James Bond theme

Motormouth Noel Gallagher, fresh from accusations of sexism and from being wounded on stage in Toronto, has now turned his ire toward Jack White and Alicia Keys. The Oasis publicity machine is in full flow ahead of the October release of new album Dig Out Your Soul, and it seems the older Gallagher brother is going to talk (and blog) up a storm between now and then.

So what does Noel think of White’s contribution to the Quantum of Solace soundtrack? "It's a piss take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of fucking Americans,” he told NME. Unfortunately Noel doesn’t know his history, as American artists such as Nancy Sinatra, Carly Simon, Gladys Knight, and even Sheryl Crow have produced theme songs for prior James Bond features.

But Noel seems to want to follow in White’s footsteps, adding: "I've written a couple of theme tunes. They haven't got very Bond-esque titles, so I would have to tailor the title accordingly. The latest one that I wrote, I listened back to it thinking, ''Fucking hell, man! That'd make a fucking great Bond theme'." You can hear the White/Keys collaboration here. [Angryape]

I admit that Noel is pretty damn entertaining...

He'd be even more interesting if he actually made good music. Jack White isn't one to back down from a fight. Maybe he'll go all Von Bondies on him.
Madonna also did a theme song...a pretty awesome one.

Noel's not really attacking Jack White, or the quality of his and Alicia Keys' theme song.

No one asked you Liam. If Nick says he slammed him(the song), then he did.

Oasis is so irrelevant it's laughable. Every time this fool opens his mouth, he says something utterly ridiculous. Instead of worrying so much about other artists, he should be a little more focused on writing interesting songs. I mean "a Champagne Supernova," seriously?

Meh. I don't think this will damage the rep of the 17th greatest guitarist of all time. Just sayin. Jack White pretty much rules.

mullet kid >> I'm completely agreeing with ya. And I like the song unlike other Bond fans.

Not all the people who make these films are British either. Is that a piss take too?

Hmm. Does that mean that a "bunch of f'n Americans" shouldn't soundtrack their lives with his music? Guess I'll have to go to the sites to grab his songs from now on.

its a shame that Gallagher has to bash White, considering Whites contributed far more to music than oasis has

mick hat is a stupid comment... Oasis will be remembered for years... Mr White on the other hand will not

I'm pretty sure Jack White will be remembered for many years to come, I hope the exposure he gets from the film makes his music more popular, I love the White Stripes!

Noel is right. He didn't say anything about the trashy movies, I imagine he thinks the same of Sherl Crow making terrible songs... Way to miss the point 'Nick' (who is always right, sorry, dukkookim :P )

It's not a slam so much as it's true... At least Noel Gallagher is always honest. A rare trait in musicians these days.

Noel is jealous...but there's always going to be narrow minded ppl who take everything hes says like its gospel. Noel, wake up son, you havn't made a decent album in 13 years!

I'll start by saying I really dont care for the song too much but I love Jack and Ms. Keys. I also think Oasis have contributed alot to the music scene over the years as well, but for a band that has been together for 17 years they havent conjured up any more hits than Jack in almost half the time! Noel Gallagher is a Fairly talented(far from great) songwriter who has a big f@^kin' mouth and should keep it shut. This is why people always seem to be kicking his a**.

I just saw the movie today and was pretty surprised by the theme song. The 1st thing I thought was why they didn't ask Oasis, it would be more fitting. The Alecia Keys vocal was annoying, Jack alone would have sounded better. It was the best movie I've seen in a year.
