The huge yawn that greeted Oasis’ Dig Out Your Soul has just about dissipated, but that’s not stopping the band from planning its follow up. It’s been a busy year for Noel Gallagher, who became a blogger, got attacked on stage in Toronto and expressed his admiration for Barack Obama. Noel talks a good game, and always seems to have a broad range of hilarious anecdotes to hand. But no one’s wrestling the guitar from his fingertips just yet. “It's already done. It's already written. It's already demoed," says Noel, talking about the follow-up to Dig Out Your Soul. The new Oasis record isn’t scheduled yet, and the guitarist hints at plans for his oft-rumored solo album in this interview with the Detroit News. “I'm gonna take a bit of time off after this. I think I might do something for myself, maybe."
He also tips his hat in the direction of fellow rock dinosaur Axl Rose, saying: “I've not heard [Chinese Democracy]. I've read the reviews, and judging from the reviews I know I'm gonna fucking love it. I love preposterous records, and anything that took 17 years is obviously fucking ludicrous. I'm dying to hear it. I already know I'm going to like it." [The Quietus]
