I just received word from Prefix photographer that Oasis was assaulted at the Virgin Festival in Toronto and with the magic of the internet, here is the video.
During the band's performance of "Morning Glory," a man appeared from the back of the stage and then pushed Noel Gallagher. Security jumped on the guy and then Liam threw a few punches at the guy. Oasis walked off stage, but then returned to close out their set.

So seeing as I was the one to break this news on Prefix I guess I should comment. The consensus seems to be that Noel got hit a lot harder than it looks on the video. I'm sure he's okay, but no one was laughing in the press area. I'm also betting that the band's security guys went to work on that guy football fan style before the cops showed up. It's a shame this had to happen on the final night. Much to the credit of the Virgin Staff, the rest of the festival was exceedingly calm and well managed. No, this was personal...some freak with a vendetta against the band. He was shouting that he has a problem with them. I'm sure he will be dealt with, besides assault charges. |

I'm a little torn cause i think Gallagher is a jerk. But i'm a performer too and no one has the right to do this. Its the classic "i don't come to your work and ....you sorta thing". The stage is your temple and it is your cubicle at the end of the row with no window. No one should get their ass kicked at work unless they're a boxer.... |

he didn't really get his ass kicked, he just got pushed.... is not that serious. if you have a big mouth like he does, chances are you are going to piss someone off. also, it is not very likely that the guy that pushed him would have access to push him off stage, i'm very surprised he actually made it on stage. |

"he just got pushed" "not serious"? what the * are you talking about? if you'd been there and said that you're the one who would have gotten a "well deserved push" from the crowd. he was hit completely blind and went down hard on the monitor without a chance to brace for it or put his arms out. no one deserves that and he could have been injured much worse. |

Regardless of what you think of Noel Gallagher, he didn't deserve that one bit. He could have seriously gotten injured more than he already did. And what about the guitar; that's his signature guitar... hopefully it didn't take to much of beating either, because I'm sure that's the one they'll put in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame someday. And how about for the rest of fans; some of us actually like Oasis, and are there for the music. Thanks to the jackass for ruining the concert, I'm sure he'd appreciate if someone did that to one of his favorite bands during a live performance. To sum up; probably a Nickleback fan who done it. |

Actually, the push was pretty bad - significantly worse than the video would have you believe. He basically flew forward, his chest landing on the edge of his own monitor. Say what you want about the band, but no one would be laughing if there was a knife or gun involved. |
