Noah and the Whale cancel U.S. dates

The stateside search for live English folk rock in the month of December just got a little harder. English folk group Noah and the Whale have announced via  website that the band has decided against coming to the states for a set of scheduled December dates. Citing a need to finish work on an upcoming album and more concerts scheduled in "hereto neglected Europe," the band was very apologetic and issued a "globally viewable" promise of a full tour in March 2009, possibly to coincide with SXSW. The band did not release any further details about the upcoming album, but after canceling a trip it had better be pretty impressive; Noah and the Whale are currently one for three on New York dates. That might win a batting title, but even George Jones shows up for a higher percentage of concerts than that. [Brooklyn Vegan]
