No Doubt Taking Legal Action Against Makers of Band Hero

The makers of Guitar Hero angered many of the people who surrounded Kurt Cobain during his brief time on the planet by messing with his avatar in the game, and now a similar incident has occurred with No Doubt. The band is taking legal action against the makers of Band Hero, and are hoping to remove their image from the game.

The members of No Doubt signed a contract with Activision for the game, but claim they didn’t agree that their likeness could be used in any more than three songs. The No Doubt characters can perform over 60 tracks on Band Hero, and Gwen Stefani is apparently less than thrilled at the fact that her character can occasionally sing in a male voice.

A court document from the band reads: "While No Doubt are avid fans of The Rolling Stones and even have performed in concerts with The Rolling Stones, the Character Manipulation Feature results in an unauthorized performance by the Gwen Stefani avatar in a male voice choir boasting about having sex with prostitutes."

Ummm, news flash, Gwen: That would be AWESOME. I wish I had my own avatar just so it could sing in a booming male voice. Then again, I made my Wii avatar fat and tiny with a beard and a giant mole, so maybe I'm just weird. But perhaps the moral of the story is that we should all learn to take ourselves a little less seriously.
