No Doubt plan to tour, possibly record, in 2009

Now that all the goodwill Gwen Stefani accrued after her solo debut Love, Angel, Music, Baby was erased by “Wind It Up” and “The Sweet Escape” it makes sense for her to rejoin the clowns in No Doubt for a reunion tour. And lo and behold, that’s exactly what is shaping up. On noudoubt.com this weekend, the band posted an animated IM session that says the band will be touring, and that they will "Pack up the babies and get a bunch of nannies. I think that if we go on tour it will inspire us to write."

Apparently Stefani thinks the inspiration the band needs to do more songs like “Hella Good” will come from a tour with their kids in bags tended by nannies (what else would “pack up” mean? I think “grab the kids” would be more appropriate) as they roam around a country they used to be cool in.

I’m not sure if there’s a huge population bloc clamoring for a new No Doubt record, but their tour might be sorta successful. I guess only time will tell. [Stereogum]

Um, I have been awaiting a new No Doubt album and tour for a really long time, as are many others that I know so the population bloc is there. Old habits formed at age 10 are really hard to break even after 13 years.

And this isn't a new decision, Gwen noted this when I saw her a couple years ago for her last tour.

It's goofy, I know. But I still really like them! Maybe I should post this anonymously so as to save cred...
