NME has released the top fifth of their albums of the year list on their website, and the results shouldn't surprise anyone who has traipsed by the NME.com in the last 12 months: MGMT's Oracular Spectacular has claimed the top spot.
And also unsurprisingly, British bands dominate the list, with Glasvegas, Metronomy, Foals, Friendly Fires and Mystery Jets making the top ten. Plus, you might as well toss in Kings of Leon into that pile, since they're way bigger in the U.K., and the NME loves that band more than any American magazine will ever allow itself to.
TV on the Radio's Dear Science, and Vampire Weekend and Santogold's self-titled debuts round out the top ten. Here's the list in order:
Dang right MGMT is on top. I don't think people really understand the depth of that album. It is glam rock at its finest. Some people have trouble understanding emotion when stuff is produced this way. But its gold. Each sound is calculated and perfect. Its not just a bunch of instruments thrown together randomly.

What Happened to the awesome Aussie band "Empire Of The Sun" with their fantastic track "Walking on a dream"? At least MGMT got credit they deserve.
funny to see MGMT topping someone's best of list--they can be catchy, but really, number 1 for the year?
