Track Review: NIN "Me, I'm Not"

So I don't know what Trent Reznor is thinking anymore, but another new NIN track has made its way onto the web. "Me I'm Not" is filled with the same industrial hums and buzzes as the previous two tracks profiled here, but this one lacks any kind of gratifying pay-off. The song simmers throughout and occasionally hints at a much-needed explosion, but it never comes. Maybe I'm alone here, but I'm finding myself less excited to hear the finished product with every new song off Year Zero that I hear.

"much-needed explosion"???? Yeah, Schindler's List would have been great too, but for its lack of explosions.

Kind of a stretch on your part don't you think?Anyhow, I'm of the opinion that Trent Reznor is either angry or boring, so yes, letting out some rage would have been nice.

I'm in the opposite boat as you Justin. I went from feeling indifferent about the new album to really wanting to hear it now from the leaked tracks.

This track is certainly a grower. The best music never sounds "awsome" the first time you hear it. I think this has some of his best vocal stylings ive ever hear from NIN.as for explosions? im sure year zero will have plenty, not every track needs to be a violent crunch right?

This song is very unique, yet very amazing. It's not really "epic" on the scale like "My Violent Heart" and "Survivalism" were too me. It's slower, with no crazy explosions, yet I still love it.

i agree with dave.imo, the best climax you're gonna get out of this song is the one from making sweet, sweet love to it. this track is all sorts of sexy.

As with any nin album, it needs to be heard in the full context of the entire album as a whole. Especially with Year Zero. It was created as a concept album. Be patient...

This track is creative and full of new sounds to get lost in. I like it as much as any current or older NIN albms. Until YOU can come up with music that moves an entire generation of people, I suggest you plug in your MP3 player and listen to your "made for radio" pop bull****. Have a great day!

I sat and listened to this song as I drank a six pack. I listened over and over. I love this song. I hope more is like it on the album. Love the slow dark mood.

The mood set by this track is somewhat intellectual. It makes you think, and thats what NIN does... another great song, also the vocals set off the twangs and sudden changes in the background. Techno-esk.
