NIN "In This Twilight"

Another day, another new NIN track to discuss. If you're keeping score at home, "In This Twilight" is the fourth track off Year Zero to make its way onto the Net. That's a full quarter of the album. At this rate you'll be buying the album for the cover art come April.
Anyway, the track you can make your own mind up on. I'm more interested in the Web site that came with it. Click here and you'll find the following message:
"The first dirty bomb went off at the Kodak Theater during the 81st Annual Academy Awards Ceremony. Over the next half hour, eight more dirty bombs deployed by Islamic extremists spread a pall of radioactive dust across greater L.A. Three days later a presidential order required the entire city to be evacuated. The City of Angels had become a city of ghosts.
This site is dedicated to the people of Los Angeles who lost their homes, their loved ones, and their lives in Hollywood's last fade to black." NIN fans who've been flaming my ongoing commentary on the new album can continue to do so in the comments below.

The NIN diehards will either argue that the rest of us "just don't get it" or "you haven't given enough of a chance - it's an album that requires patience."Of course, both are simply translated from naiveté to "Wow, this sucks balls. Maybe Reznor shoulda kept that whole 5-6 year thing going."At least "With_Teeth" was pretty good....

Are you all ******* idiots? this is some of the most intelligent writing we've heard from trent. Are you 13 or 14? Well younger than 20. You're a moron. I've been listening since ____ one. Yeah halo one. Where is your standing, how can you judge this and not get it. STEVE LAMPRIS is a jackass who's favorite song is closer... or down in it.. or head like a hole.... maybe terrible lie.... the hand that feeds.... everyday is exactly the same... or any other track he's heard on the radio. Keep trying to be a fan, but go ahead and fuck off. Your not true. Reznor's work is far beyond it's time.

br80, calm down, it's ok... You are probably correct about Steve Lampris, but he's entitled to his opinion. I too have been listening from the beginning, and can say that some of my favorites are still the ones you mentioned above. Of course I still love many others that include: Gave Up (Fixed version), We're in the Together, No You Don't, Get Down Make Love, La Mer (cause it relaxes me), At the Heart of it All, Suck, and many others. br80, we should be glad that todays youth are still enjoying NIN, at least enough to listen.Anyway, I'm psyched!

I like Everything Trent Reznor has ever put out. If the man released a cd of nothing but pig sounds, and those pig sounds were looped over him chewing on beef jerky, I would still be able to pull something away from his presentation, because, for all of the pros and cons on his works over the years, one thing has remained consistent: He is harder on himself than any College Freshmen ever will be. I am the same way about my own music. I am by no means in the same league with Trent, and never will be, but I have been inspired, educated, and, above all, made to feel that a voice is where it begins AND ends. His voice is not only auditory, it is mental, emotional, and nuanced.I am thoroughly enjoying the snippets he has been teasing us with, and 'In This Twilight' is a remarkably haunting and thoughtful song. I have had this track on loop for several days now, heh. I just dig the haunting layers over his rising and lowering octaves. It gives me chills. The words enhance that for me."ashes in your hair remind me..." Is just spot on badass. He has this preoccupation with ash lately (last album "fuck in the fire and spread all these ashes around") Hehe.I am encouraged by his current offerings, and I am convinced the man will not disappoint me this time.Yeah, I am a die hard and would accept pretty much anything he puts out. But therein lies the difference between myself and certain other people: He doesn't approach music composition from a "filler track perspective" and thus, he cannot fail in my eyes. He is a genius, and honestly, his instrumental pieces do far more for me than his more popular tracks.A Warm Place" is perhaps a song I have heard more times than any song in my life. It's that deeply good for me. "Still" is 2nd.In closing, anyone who argues and bashes another human being over music is, well, missing the point of the music. He is speaking from WHO HE IS, outwardly. That is art. Grab a paintbrush, or grab your ankles.
