Nickelback signs 360 deal with Live Nation

After signing Madonna, Jay-Z, and Shakira to 360 deals this year, Live Nation has decided that it wants to put its marketing muscle behind some Canadian AM radio rock. The company has announced a deal with Nickelback to promote three albums and tours with an option for a fourth based on performance. For those, like me, who would insert some snark about the band, it’s hard to argue with the twenty-six million albums they’ve sold and the sixty-seven million dollars it grossed touring in 2006-07. The only snag in the signing is the two studio albums and greatest hits package that Nickelback still owes Roadrunner Records. Live Nation has not said whether they will seek to buy out the contract or wait until the band has entirely worn out its welcome with listeners before starting their deal. [Variety]
