Nick Cave Doesn’t Care If Grinderman Offends You

Nick Cave is at the point in his career when he can make the music that he wants to make, regardless of how it is perceived by critics or the general public. The result of this freedom is the second Grinderman album, Grinderman 2, which Cave characterizes as both “polarizing” and “offensive.” During a recent interview with NME, Cave insists that he doesn’t mean to push any buttons, but that sometimes lyrics just “go to a place where you don’t want to be.” Given the content of Cave’s of the video for “Heathen Child,” he doesn’t want to be in a bathroom with werewolves and orange cheerleaders. Really, what’s so offensive material about that? [NME]
