But rather than a follow-up to Cave’s 1989 debut novel, And The Ass Saw The Angel, Cave and his Bad Seeds will be releasing a 46-page book documenting the creation of their recent don’t-call-it-a-comeback album, Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! Set for a July 28 release, the book—which shares the album’s title—will cover the genesis and creation of the album, and include the requisite handwritten lyrics, photos, Cave’s own notes, and interviews with the creators of the album’s excellent cover art.
Although it may be somewhat redundant for the superfans who make up the book's target audience, it will also come equipped with a 3-inch CD containing the album’s title track. But then again, better not to doubt: only Cave could turn a potentially self-congratulatory project into a “genuine cultural idea.” [NME]
