Nick Cave and Warren Ellis Releasing Soundtrack to The Road

· by

John Hillcoat’s long-awaited adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel The Road is due in theaters at the end of this month, and the film contains music from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. Cave has enjoyed a long partnership with Hillcoat since appearing in his Ghosts…of the Civil Dead back in 1988.

The music by Cave and Ellis will be released on Jan. 4 next year, and will follow the recent (and excellent) White Lunar album from the pair. "The movie is about the loss of things, the absence of things, the lack of things," Cave said. "The lack of the wife/mother is present in every frame of the film.

"The delicate edifice of the film holds the ache of her absence, tenderly and by the tips of the fingers,” he continued. “The music was composed as a direct response to the film. A light, haunting, simple score with a sense of absence and loss at its heart." The Road is due to be released on Nov. 25.

Definitely looking forward to seeing this. Mr. Fox, too.

Yeah, me too. Ghosts...of the Civil Dead is worth a viewing if you can get hold of it. It features Cave at his most unhinged.
