The New Yorker Festival returns next month to drop some culture on the world. The tenth annual festival is a "three-day series of events that brings together some of the world's most talented and distinguished people in the fields of literature, art, film, music, humor, business, food, politics, design, and science."
The list of participants is huge. The festival features interviews with Rachel Maddow, Annie Proulx, James Franco, John Cusack, John Turturro and many others. It also features interview/performances from Bon Iver, Neko Case, Steve Earle, and Loudon Wainwright III, as well as performances from Dirty Projectors, Graham Parker, House of Ledosha and the string quartet Brooklyn Rider (again, among many others).
Panels of experts will discuss the music industry, the advertising world, and math. A set of master classes feature Platon on photography, Bob Mankoff on cartooning, and Ann Goldstein and others on copy editing at The New Yorker.
If that's not enough to keep you entertained for the weekend, there will also be a New Yorker-inspired city-wide scavenger hunt. The festival also features events on film, fiction, opera, politics and food. The New Yorker Festival takes place October 16-18 across New York. The complete schedule will be available in the September 21, 2009 issue of the magazine, available September 14th. [The New Yorker]
