[New York Times via Paper Thin Walls]As a nice change of pace, the New York Times actually ran a thoughtful, informed piece on emerging trends in indie culture. Using shredder Marnie Stern and "New Guitar God" Kaki King as primary examples, the article explores the fading of resentment towards virtuosity in indie culture and highlights that, curiously, it seems to be women (traditionally thought of as second class citizens in the world of guitar rock) who are the forerunners of this trend. All in all, it's a great read. Both King and Stern come of well, and Carrie Brownstein throws in some great insight as well. Check it out by clicking here.
