Pedro The Lion’s TW Walsh Releasing New LP, ‘Songs Of Pain And Leisure,’ In October

TW Walsh, longtime producer and collaborator for such artists as David Bazan (for both Pedro the Lion and the Headphones), Sufjan Stevens, the Mynabirds, and Crystal Skulls (among others), is releasing his long-awaited second solo LP in October. The album, Songs of Pain and Leisure, is Walsh’s first since 2001’s Blue Laws. This new effort promises to showcase Walsh’s myriad skills as a producer and songwriter: he pulls dub rhythms for “Plant a Garden” and brings “a slinky, nocturnal Beatles trip” to “Pawn Shop Guns.” The opening track, “Make It Rhyme,” is carried along by a Halloween-worthy organ along with rough guitar that old fans of Pedro the Lion will recognize.

Songs of Pain and Leisure is due out Oct. 11 on Graveface. You can stream and download “Make It Rhyme” below.
