New Radiohead EP Rumored to be Released on August 17

Excitement greeted the sudden leak of Radiohead’s “These Are My Twisted Words” this week. The band members are always looking for new and inventive ways to release their music, and it looks like they have more surprises in store. Rumors are now circulating that a new EP by the band could surface as early as Monday (August 17).

A savvy Radiohead fan opened up the id3 tag of the “These Are My Twisted Words” MP3 and discovered some interesting code. The deliberately vague text in the “nfo” file packaged with the MP3 also offered a few clues, and fans have pulled together various information from both sources to conclude that a new EP may be forthcoming.

The MP3 contained the word “advance” (ie an advance copy) and is listed as “01” (presumably meaning track number one). The acronym “woi” also appears, and is thought to be a reference to “Wall of Ice,” which is mentioned twice in the “nfo” file. “Wall of Ice” is now rumored to be the title of the EP, if it exists.

Naturally, this is all very tenuous, and the members of Radiohead are no doubt getting a huge kick out of all this amateur sleuth work. But the band has indicated dissatisfaction with the traditional album format, and is seemingly happy to release music exclusively on the Internet, so August 17 could prove be a very interesting day for Radiohead fans.
