Hard to believe as it may have seemed over the past eight years or so, sometimes it's good to be a Democrat. Even in the Bizzaro-world scenario in which the Republicans would have ever considered taking their convention to New Orleans this year, what sort of local musical talent do you suppose they could have coughed up for the event? Even Harry Connick Jr. probably wouldn't take that call. As it stands, however, there's a raft of impressive Crescent City musical talent on tap to add some sonic spice to the DNC in the Big Easy this August. Visiting Demmies will be serenaded by the cream of New Orleans R&B under the collective name Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars, including Irma Thomas, Cyril Neville, Marva Wright, members of the Meters, Tab Benoit, and the Wild Tchoupitoulas.
