New Order To Begin Work On New Album In 2013

2005's Waiting For The Sirens' Call was the last album of new material from electro-kings New Order, but it looks like they'll finally be heading back into the studio. Vocalist Bernard Sumner stated in an interview with Mixmag that the group will begin work sometime next year.

The news follows New Order's busy touring schedule this year, and the band recently headlined Bestival on the UK's Isle of Wight. Sumner confirmed that the hectic pace has kept New Order from writing new songs, but that should change in 2013.

Sumner also stated that he'd like to the new material to be different from New Order's last few albums. "I'd like to make an electronic synth album," said Sumner, "as the last few that I've done have been guitar albums."

New Order reformed late last year, though original bassist Peter Hook is still at odds with the rest of the bandmembers. He's battling the band in court over the use of the New Order name. [Fact/NME]
