New OM Album Coming From Drag City

Forget about overblown acts like the White Stripes, with their guitar/drums duo lineup. Om cuts out all the unnecessary sonic frills, and removes two strings from the aforementioned setup, operating in a bass/drums format. Nevertheless, the music of singer/bassist Al Cisneros (formerly of stoner-metal gods Sleep) and drummer Emil Amos is as raw, loud, and heavy as that of bands with two or three guitarists among their ranks.

You'll experience a whole new level of pummeling sound when the duo unleashes a new album later this year. It'll be their fourth studio job overall, but their first for the Drag City label, after releases on Holy Mountain and Southern Lord. It's also the first Om record since Amos replaced original drummer Chris Hakius, and some new shades are sure to be added to the sound. Right now, all we know is that the band is currently at work with producer Steve Albini, and there's a projected release date of September, but stay tuned for further Om transmissions.

This band has always bored me but their recent stuff is kinda sorta exciting. Looking forward to hearing this one.
