50 Cent has had a rough year: car accident, label troubles, and his own grandma saying she doesn't like his music. 50 will try to turn things around with his new album Street King Immortal, out in November. Here's a track from that album, "New Day," produced by and featuring Dr. Dre with a chorus from Alicia Keys, who has a song of the same title.
It's a nice track, snares and soul piano and Keys going "ay-ay-ay-ay-ay" all over the beat, but when both 50 Cent and his Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine say that Street King Immortal will be better than Get Rich Or Die Tryin', it's hard to believe, given how recycled this single feels. A song called "New Day" that sounds exactly like an old song called "New Day?"
At one point, 50 raps that he's "on automatic pilot, ain't nobody stoppin' me." That's supposed to be a boastful line, but it doesn't read that way because dude actually sounds like he's on autopilot. Listen to "New Day" below and decide for yourself.
