The “King of Pop” may have passed, but his legend continues. Announced by Epic Records, Michael Jackson will have a new album released which will include 8 previously unheard new tracks. The project titled XSCAPE and is produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid. Reid was given unlimited access by the Jackson estate which included vocals recorded by Michael Jackson himself and were never released.
Co-executors from the estate, John Branca and John McClain said:
“Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision.”
Lead by Timbaland, the album also includes producers Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain. According to Reid, the album will have a more “contemporized” sound.
In a press release Reid stated:
“Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world…Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world.”
The album XSCAPE will be released on May 13, 2014 via Epic Records / Sony Sony Network Entertainment. More news and updates can be foun at www.MichaelJackson.com.
