How would you describe your response to hearing more news about the upcoming M.I.A. album?
a) I'm a Stan! Tyson-level ecstasy
b) I knew that already... but I'll feign interest
c) Hate, hate, hate
d) Whuzzat now?
At this point, this news item is perhaps best for readers that picked A. /\/\/\Y/\ (MAYA), or the album-soon-to-have-reviews-that-include-the-words-"dubstep"-and-"truffle fries," continues to bleed tracks along the path to its July 13 release date. The latest to fall out the purse includes the newest single "Tell Me Why" and a remix of "Steppin' Up." The former features production by Diplo and a sing-song melody by M.I.A. File this one under, "I will teach this to my 5-year old in the Wu-Tang tee. Hope he/she doesn't ask what it means, though." The latter is a droney chunk of kuku bass from Philly's own Zakee that won't be on the album. Those unfamiliar with kuduro may have to take a break midway through, but it's worth imagining this on the dance-floor.
