While we of the Internet have learned to take Justice rumors with a healthy heaping of skepticism, it seems like this time it's for reals—or, well, part of it is. But only sort of, actually.
Parisian creative agency Surface to Air has unveiled the album artwork for an upcoming brand new single by the French duo; this much is certain. The image, which drops the group's familiar cross imagery into a pulp sci-fi desert moonscape, is also up on Justice's Facebook page (linked from Ed Banger's Facebook—it's legit), under the header CIVILIZATION. Whether this is actually the name of an impending full-length album or just the single, though, is unclear.
But what to make of the sudden appearance of a Facebook page for Justice: Civilization, and the corresponding teaser video? The page's wall is awash in speculation that it's a fake ("Cette page est un fake (?)", says one fan, who obviously knows what's up, since he cared enough to make the album artwork his profile pic) and it doesn't seem to be endorsed by any official channels affiliated with the label.
The video, posted yesterday, features strung-together sound bites of growls, thumps and muffled screams, and might make more sense attached to a teaser for LOST: The Movie. Since it really just jumpily zooms in on the picture everyone's already seen, the clip could have been produced with almost no budget at all, and it doesn't give us any information on the album, besides that it comes out 2011. Duh.
You be the judge. Is this video real, or fake, or maybe it doesn't matter since Ed Banger and co. can't possibly be mad at all this free buzz around the announcement of the new track?
