Jack White’s love affair with Coca Cola continues with the announcement that his new James Bond theme song is being used in Coke’s current ad campaign. White previously worked with the company in 2006, when he composed this little ditty for a commercial. Just to show he’s got a wide palate for all Coke products, this time out White is working for Coke Zero.
The song is set to appear in the new James Bond feature Quantum of Solace and is a duet between White and Alicia Keys. Inexplicably, White claims he has wanted to work with Keys for quite some time. “After a couple of years of wanting to collaborate with Alicia Keys, it took James Bond himself to finally make it happen," he told NME.
The ad itself, which contains no vocals from White or Keys, is a cross-promotion for the Bond film and Coke Zero, and closely resembles the classic John Barry theme. So we will have to wait with baited breath for the moment when, according to White, “Alicia put some electric energy into her breath that cemented itself into the magnetic tape.” Wow. The ad is currently being hosted on the Guardian’s website.
