New Hold Steady Album, ‘Heaven Is Whenever,’ Due Out In May

It’s been nearly two years since Hold Steady delivered their last missive (2008’s Stay Positive). But fear not Hold Steady fans’ they’ve got the new one in the can and ready to go. Heaven is Whenever, the band’s fifth album, is due out on May 4 via Vagrant. The band claim this one is going to be “less anthemic” and they name-check Jon Brion and jazz composer Terrence Blanchard as heavy influences. Whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean.
