Modern troubadour Grant-Lee Phillips will release his next album, the nicely-named Strangelet, on Zoe/Rounder March 27. The one-time Grant-Lee Buffalo lead singer recorded Strangelet in his home studio in Los Angeles and in Seattle. When in the Pacific Northwest, Phillips hooked up with current R.E.M. drummer Bill Rieflin, who has also pounded the skins for Ministry. Rieflin brought in Peter Buck, who appears on two tracks, "Fountain of Youth" and "Soft Asylum." Strangelet reportedly covers emotional territory Phillips has made a career of surveying.
