Apparently, Dan Deacon has had a rough go coming down from the ecstatic heights of his 2007 album Spiderman of the Rings, because in an interview with Pitchfork, he says that his new album, titled Bromst, out this fall on Carpark, will be “much darker” and “mature.”
Deacon also addressed being called wacky all the time (he hates it), his growing fan base (he likes it, mostly) and how the new album will be more than just midi, electronics and voice (he uses a lot of real percussion, and loves it).
In the mean time, Deacon’s got a tour of Europe and the U.S. lined up through July, including a date with Devo and Tom Tom Club at McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn on June 26. [Pitchfork]
