Currently, Apple has a feature called AirPlay that allows you to stream content from your iPhone or iPad to your AppleTV via your home's network connection. But The Telegraph reports that the company is set to introduce a new feature called AirPlay Direct that allows you to bypass your router and stream content directly to other devices.
Musically speaking, this could be a real boon for home stereo enthusiasts. Now you won't need a WiFi-enabled stereo as the iDevice (iPod, iPhone, or iPad) can form its own network for direct playback over a pair of speakers.
According to Business Insider, AirPlay Direct is set to debut on September 12 when Apple unveils its new iPhone.
