Neil Young To Be Honored By Patti Smith, Others

A diverse group of musical luminaries including Patti Smith and The Roots will pay homage to the music of Neil Young at Carnegie Hall this winter. All proceeds from the concert, slated for Feb. 10,  will benefit music and arts programs for disadvantaged youth.

Other acts on the roster include J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., Aimee Mann, Cowboy Junkies, DeVotchKa, Living Colour and Pete Yorn. Jeffrey Campbell, a key player in Bob Dylan’s live act, will be at the helm of the show’s house band. If nothing else, the line-up lends itself to numerous possibilities. (A Living Colour and J Mascis rendition of “Cinnamon Girl,” perhaps?)

Church Street School of Music, the American Symphony Orchestra  Music Notes, FIKS (Fixing Instruments for Kids in Schools), Music Unites All-Youth Chorus, and the Pinwheel Project are the programs that stand to benefit from the event.

Tickets are available via the Carnegie Hall website. [Spinner]
