Neil Young Says Kurt Cobain's Suicide Note "Fucked With" Him

In his new memoir, Waging Heavy Peace, Neil Young reportedly admits the personal effect of Kurt Cobain’s suicide. In his 1994 suicide note, the Nirvana frontman included the phrase “It’s better to burn out than to fade away,” a reference to Young’s “Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black).”

The legendary folk-rocker notes in the book that “when he died and left that note, it struck a deep chord inside of me. It fucked with me.” Young goes on to say that he “had been trying to reach him. I wanted to talk to him. Tell him only to play when he felt like it.” Young’s memoir, for which he quit alcohol and drugs, is out now and his collaborative LP with Crazy Horse, Psychedelic Pill, hits stores October 29.
