The Winter Olympics ended yesterday (Feb. 28) and there were a few surprises in store during the closing ceremony. Neil Young got in touch with his Canadian roots by appearing at the event, where he performed a version of “Long May You Run” to help close out the games.
This was the second time in quick succession that Young has performed the song at a poignant event—the last was on Conan O’Brien’s final show a few weeks ago. Nickelback also appeared at the event after failing to thwart a pickle on Facebook, but it’s likely that Young’s performance will be the one that lingers in the memory.

I was wondering where this dude was.
I like this song.
And thank you for refraining from posting the Nickelback performance.
The closing ceremony, was an embarrassment.
who was the old lady who told the crowd they had left a mess.
The music vacated the entire seating capacity, with the speed of the 15th gold medal... way to go Canada.

Neil was the highlight of this debacle. The more comedic stuff was fine (Shatner, Michael J. Fox) but the music was awful. I appreciate the need for one or two super-popular groups, but Michael Buble, Avril Lavigne, Nickelback, Alanis Morrisette all in a row like that?! Yikes! And there is so much good Canadian talent right now, a wasted opportunity.
