Neil Young going Blu-ray

Neil Young will release his entire music archive on Blu-ray discs, he announced at a Sun Microsystems Conference recently. Already the victor in the format war, this is a nice little feather in Blu-ray's cap, and it's a sign that it will be the first choice among musicians as it already is for movie makers. Young's first release will cover his recordings from 1963 to 1972 and will be released as a 10-disc set this fall on Reprise.  "Previous technology required unacceptable quality compromises," Young said. "I am glad we waited and got it right." You can expect the full re-release treatment, which will include previously unreleased songs, videos and handwritten manuscripts among other memorabilia. I'll believe this release when I see it. He's been working on the archive for like twenty years.
