After posting a new track on his website earlier in the week, Neil Young didn't let rumors of a new album gain much momentum before confirming them. The new album, which may be out as soon as March, will be titled Fork in the Road. While no tracklist has been confirmed, the disc is believed to include a number of songs Young premiered on his recent North American tour, including "Cough Up the Bucks," "Fuel Line," and "Get Around." The announcement of the album once again pushes back the release of the long-awaited, and often delayed, Archives project. The Warners label has reported that the Archives set, which focuses on Young's early material, is ready to go, but the singer apparently wants to focus on new music first. Young is currently touring Australia and New Zealand. You can hear his new song, which is now officially the title track to the upcoming record, by going here.

Hey Matt I Totally Agree with you my man. I know i shouldnt care cause neil wouldnt but im reading stuff on fans being pissed off about his upcomming material....for those people i tell them to shut there traps be quiet this is one musician who has kept with it and has always done what he wants which is the way music should be done. The archives will always be there.....for that U.K. Paper that wrote that Greendale was awful....then they should listen to Greendale again becasue that is an incredible album....briliant. I still do not see any other musicians who have been doing the things that they should be doing for their times. It seems neil is picking up the slack for these musicians when it is not even his responsibility. BRING ON MORE NEIL....as long as neil is rockin in the free world there will be more greatness to come. |

Neil! What a lovable curmudgeon. Keep cranking out the tunes Shakey. |

The new song is fantastic. Neil's biting satire, tounge-in-cheek references to popular culture, and examination of the thought processes of the American 'everyman' are beautiful. Such a funny, relevant and poignant little song, with witty metaphor layered beneath a simplistic, rambling reflection on current events from the perspective of his truck driving character feels so wonderfully authentic. And the way he suggests the truck as a metaphor for America... I couldn't ask for more.
I'm looking forward to the archives too, but new material from Mr. Young is always a welcome treat! Neil is one of the greatest, most important and inspiring musicians of this generation, the previous generation, and the one before that too! Great job, Neil. Keep 'em comin'.
