NBC’s remake of The Munsters, Mockingbird Lane may not be coming to the airwaves.
Deadline reports that NBC is leaning toward passing on the reboot series from Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. However, no final decision has been made yet and Fuller responded via Twitter saying that “NBC just informed me that the Deadline article regarding #MockingbirdLane was Dead Wrong… stay tuned for updates.”
Fuller’s script for the Mockingbird Lane pilot got rid of the silly comedic tone of The Munsters and envisioned the series as a dark tragicomedy. Bryan Singer directed the pilot with Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard in the leads. Even if NBC does choose to pass on the series, Fuller has already delivered scripts for the Hannibal Lecter series Hannibal for the network, which is set to debut midseason with 13 episodes.
