As opposed to all the local L.A. news I've been reporting lately. But this isn't about democratic presidential candidates, bad weather, or stock market worries. No, this is National news with a capital N. As in the band the National. In a week in which we've learned about their new album, Boxer, out May 22nd on Beggar's Banquet, its cover art and tracklisting, and a four-night concert run the band will put in at the Bowery Ballroom, Billboard has news of a slew of guests that will appear on the album. The biggest name would have to be none other than Mr. Sufjan Stevens, who tickles the ivories on "Ada" and "Racing Like a Pro." Padma Newsome of Clogs adds some instrumental arrangements. Thomas Barlett of Doveman, who will open one of National's Bowery shows, also adds some keyboard work. And singer-songwriter Marla Hansen contributes vocals to many of the tracks.
