Nas & Damian Marley Discuss Nneka, Journey of 'Distant Relatives' (Prefix Exclusive)

With this duo's upcoming Distant Relatives record due out relatively soon, Nas and Damian Marley are working on making sure more than blog hip-hop nerds/heads know about it and how it came together. Of course, their names alone will draw interest from the casual listener, but interviews like the one above provide some interesting background information. Nas calls the record a "journey" musically for both the listener and himself while Marley notes the importance of this LP being linked to Africa.

On that note, the two then discuss their tour mate, Nneka, a Nigerian-German artist singer-songwriter whose solid Concrete Jungle dropped earlier this year. Both Nas and Marley offer nothing but praise for Nneka and her recent LP, with the Nasty one being blown away by her "Heartbeat" single. They also comment on how she is connected to the distinctively African-influenced sound heard on Distant Relatives, which is due out May 18, and how it makes her a perfect choice for the album's tour.
