Carlos Santana, leader of the band named after him, is apparently hard at work in the studio banging out a new album that won't sell as many copies/become a herpes sore on the decade like his Supernatural album. The one carryover is that Santana isn't even going to be writing/singing the songs again: He's planning a classic rock covers album with guest performers tackling classic songs. The Doors' Ray Manzarek will be around to cover "Riders on the Storm." Chrils Cornell will help with "Whole Lotta Love." Joe Cocker sings "Little Wing." But the most tantalizing/crazy cover: Nas sings AC/DC's Back In Black. It used to be Nas fans just hoped for another album half as good as Illmatic. Now we're wishing he didn't do songs with Santana and record another Stillmatic.
Here's what Santana said about the album:
"I paid special attention to the groove so the females would get completely aroused."
Oh that Carlos Santana: Give him one sentence, and he'll sound like a pervert. The album is due out later this year. [Spinner]
