Pitchfork has finally made it legal and named Animal Collective's "My Girls" as its song of the year. It's a pretty easy and predictable choice, and probably paves the way for Merriweather Post Pavilion to be named the album of the year on Friday.
Phoenix are the big winners though, as both their "1901" and "Lisztomania" cracked the top ten (they're at three and eight, respectively). Also of note is the fact that "Shine Blockas," a track from an unreleased Big Boi album is at number seven. Here's the top ten. Go to Pitchfork for their list of the top 100.
10. Washed Out "Feel It All Around"
9. Girls "Lust for Life"
8. Phoenix "Lisztomania"
7. Big Boi "Shine Blockas"
6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Zero"
5. Grizzly Bear "Two Weeks"
4. Bat for Lashes "Daniel"
3. Phoenix "1901"
2. Dirty Projectors "Stillness Is the Move"
1. Animal Collective "My Girls"

Wooooooo
It's not surprising, but it's still disappointing. Just my opinion, of course.
it could have been beyonce.
Actually, it couldn't have. Her last album came out in 2008.
Yeah, but I'm fairly certain Pfork counts singles released in 2009 from 2008 albums as 2009 songs.
