My Chemical Romance to cover Dylan for Watchmen soundtrack

If you saw The Dark Knight last weekend (I’m sure you did) you probably caught the preview for the hotly anticipated film version of Alan Moore’s graphic novel masterpiece, Watchmen.

Well, possibly banned in Russia My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is  freaking out about the movie, and he even called up director Zack Snyder (300) to talk about it. Way also offered his services to work on the soundtrack.
It turns out Snyder took Way up on his offer, and My Chemical Romance are covering Bob Dylan’s “Desolation Row” for the film. The song was originally reported as “All Along the Watchtower,” which would have been way too obvious, and impossible to top.

Look for the song to hit (or don’t, it’ll probably be pretty rough) sometime early next year, in advance of the film’s March 6, 2009, release date. [NME]

Lyrics from "All Along The Watchtower" were used by Alan Moore in the original graphic novel.
