James Murphy, Iggy Pop Contribute To Literary Magazine

Indie rock, more than many genres, has always had something of a literary bent. Now, with the upcoming "festival" issue of online-only literary mag Five Dials, some of the genre's wordiest practitioners will get to showcase their verbal chops without the safety net of musical accompaniment. Contributors to the issue, which comes out July 24, include Dean Wareham (already a published memoirist), James Murphy (whose songs can sometimes sound like apathetic slam poetry with electronic backing, anyway) and Iggy Pop (which should be awesome). You can sign up for Five Dials here. [Pitchfork]
