Fest mania: MusicFest NW
Sorry, but when your festival is entitled MusicFest NW, I really can't think of any witty title for the post about the event. So how about I just give the particulars on it? MusicFest NW goes down September 6-9 in Portland, Oregon. Amongst the many great indie acts scheduled to play around the town's many music clubs are Rilo Kiley (pictured), Spoon, Wolf Parade, Deerhunter, Grizzly Bear, the Thermals, Okkervil River, Damien Jurado, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, YACHT, Viva Voce, Dirty Projectors, Dolorean, Jason Lytle and the Helio Sequence. Hip-hop will be nicely represented at the fest as well with acts like Clipse, Aesop Rock, Lifesavas, and Girl Talk. Not sure exactly what camp Dan Deacon gets lumped into, but I'm sure his show at the fest will be nutty. Then there's the subgroup of bands with names your mother wouldn't approve of: Holy Fuck, Jackie-O Motherfucker, Michael Dean Damron and Thee Loyal Bastards, Starfucker, the Fucking Champs, and to a lesser extent, Dirty Mittens, Drunken Prayer, Sketchy Ted, and the Dt's.
