When it comes to ramshackle whimsicality, The Music Tapes do not fuck around. Taking the communal spirit of the Elephant 6 scene that birthed them one step further, Julian Koster and his band of antique-instrument-fetishists are soliciting invitations (applications, really) to play your next slumber party--because in the childlike E6 universe, you still have slumber parties on the reg). The announcement claims that "the lullabies will be absolutely delighted to regale audiences of only one," an experience that would probably be as creepy and charming as The Music Tapes' music itself. Each private performance (there will be one in Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia) will be followed by a game called "St. Nikolai the Wonder Worker's Wishing Game of Candles," locations and times TBA. Dates below:
Aug. 4 Lullabies in Boston and Cambridge, Mass. (and area)
Aug. 5 St. Nikolai the Wonder Worker's Wishing Game of Candles in Cambridge, Mass.
Aug. 7 Lullabies in New York City, N.Y. (and area)
