Muse and Kasabian Win Big at the NME Awards 2010

The NME Awards were staged in London last night (Feb. 24) and the list of winners makes for uninspiring reading. Anyone sick of seeing Merriweather Post Pavilion topping every Album of the Year poll may now look more kindly on such lists when they realize there’s an alternate universe where Kasabian can win Best Album and Best Album Artwork awards.

There were a few shards of light—the Specials undoubtedly deserved their Outstanding Contribution to Music award, and Lady Gaga made a fitting winner of the Best Dressed and Worst Dressed awards. But even The xx, so lauded by just about everyone last year, couldn’t claim Best New Band. The full list of winners looks like this:
