MTV essentially took half of XXL's Freshmen 10 to make the segment above, where they try to pick five MCs that are going to be huge. The guy who introduces the segment says MTV was the first to bring you Jay-Z, Kanye, etc., and now they're the first to bring you Wale, Asher Roth, Kid Cudi, Charles Hamilton, and B.O.B. Of course, they make no mention of the fact that if you've been anywhere near a site that covers hip-hop (say this one) in the last 12 months, you've heard of all of these artists. [NahRight]
Thats the problem with MTV....they thought of everything. Yo MTV Raps.....Video Music Box with Ralph McDaniels anyone???? I know I'm going local but come on. MTV destroyed part of hip hop....they couldn't even sustain a new hip hop show so they just bought out BET and are slowly destroying the originality that was in that channel. My prediction for the next new, fresh hip hop artist.........me. lol One.
