MTV just announced that Green Day and Pink have been added to the lineup for the 2009 Video Music Awards, set to take place on Sept. 13 in New York. The show, hosted by comedian Russell Brand, will also feature performances by Muse and Taylor Swift. Meanwhile, Katy Perry, Ne-Yo and Chace Crawford are scheduled to present awards that night.

Green Day previously appeared on the VMAs in 2005, and will perform a song off their new album 21st Century Breakdown for the upcoming event.
