MTV picks 2009's biggest "rock" albums

MTV is all over the 2009 previewing game-- today they've listed their picks for the biggest rock albums coming out in 2009. MTV's definition of "rock" is pretty sketchy-- they include Lily Allen (not rock, but pop), Paramore (not rock, but awful), Green Day, Tokio Hotel (not rock, but chick-rock), Dave Matthews Band (not rock, but bro-rock) The Fray (not rock, but lame) U2, and Animal Collective.

I can't be mad at the Animal Collective, Antony and the Johnsons, Black Lips, and Franz Ferdinand inclusions, but the criteria for inclusion seems to be that the albums that qualify as "rock" aren't going to be in the Top 40, and don't feature Neptunes production. Rock is so undefined and variable these days- iTunes seems to class half of the crap in the pop charts as rock =S Looking forward to Paramore & Tokio Hotel's new albums though =P

ok, what the hell? paramore is not rock, but awful? you dont rgith things lkike that in a stupid blog! where actul FANS SEE IT! YOU IDIOT! its cool to have your own opinion, but you dont write that. to be honest i would classify all of the artists there are rock/pop. because there half of both. so GET OVER IT! LOSER. Tokio hotel and paramore ROCK! and i cant wait for there albums!

People need to chill out. It's obvious the writer of this article doesn't like Pararmore, Tokio Hotel, Dave Mathews Band, or The Fray, and that's OK. But if he wants to go into every sub category of rock, that's pretty pathetic and lame. hahahahaha

WHAT THE HECK IS "CHICK ROCK"? You're being very insulting. I don't care if you're male or female, it is just rude to say those things. All of these bands are good in their own way. Everybody has different tastes in music so it's a good thing there are so many different types of music style around. How boring would it be if there is only one sound. There would be a large population in this world who won't have anything to listen to. So, just be nice. What goes around, comes around.

i think you need to lay off...tokio hotel just happens to be the best band in the effing world!!! i know plenty of guys that loove tokio hotel...they are simply amazing and i dont think i have found anyone whos voice is better or more heavenly than bills...and toms guitar skills..no compare simply amazing and georg and gusti amazing too so layyyy off

Damn! Overhere says: BIGGEST ROCK ALBUM COMING OUT ON 2009 I Don´t See any Rock album but U2 the other ones are just comercial s**t! How Can somebody call Tokio Hotel or paramore ROCK!?!?! Hell Where are we going!?!?! GOD teach this PunkEmoComercial guys what it is supposed to be called ROCK!! ´cause they don´t know about what they even hear!! Jees!! I´ll Help you guys if you wanna heal those ears from that crap hear some: Motley Crue, GnR, Bon Jovi, The Darkness, Buckcherry, Poison, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Van Halen, KISS, Pink floyd, Iron Maiden, Sixx a.m., Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, etc. There´s a lot of real Rock from where to choose!!
